Police appeal for witnesses after attempted robbery in Borehamwood

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Borehamwood in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at 3.10am on Theobold Street when a 16-year-old girl from Borehamwood was walking along the road in the direction of Shenley Road.

When she passed the junction of Croxdale Road, a black Vauxhall Corsa pulled up and two males got out.

She was grabbed from behind and pulled onto the floor. The men asked for her phone but she said she did not have one.

One of the men punched her in the face and searched her. The men made off empty-handed in the car in the direction of Radlett.

She was taken to Barnet Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The first man is described as mixed race, aged 18 or 19, of very slim build, with short hair and long sideburns. He was wearing a dark hooded Adidas jumper.

The second man is described as black, aged 18, of chubby build, with short dark cropped hair. He was wearing a light coloured jumper.

PC Laura Chillingworth said: “This was a nasty incident which has left the girl very shaken.

“I am appealing to anyone who believes they saw the incident take place or the black Corsa in the area with the men described inside."
