It is good news for students at Hornsey's Greig City Academy today with the school reporting a 92.5 per cent A Level pass rate; a 12.5 per cent improvement on last year.

With the sixth form in only its third year of operation, there was a 100 per cent pass rate in A2 exams for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Drama.

An A grade in English Literature and a B grade in Portugese, along with passes in Psychology and Biology will help Carlos Moreno secure his place at UCL to study Politics and Philosophy.

When asked what he wanted to do in the future he said: "Get a job and make lots of money."

Furthermore Year 13 student Derek Adams scored top marks in his BTEC National Certificate Music Technology course by achieving a double Distinction. He is among the 31 students from the school going on to University courses in September.

And basketball enthusiast Ahlisha Donovan will be taking up a sports scholarship at an American college after achieving a distinction in Business Studies.

Damion Johnson, 17, from Tottenham, achieved two C grades and will be going to Southbank University to study Drama and Creative Theatre. He said: "My teacher Mrs Foran inspired me from a young age and I would possibly like to come back here to become a drama teacher."

Head of Sixth Form, Jon Holt said: "The continued improvement in Post 16 results reflects the hard work of our staff and students. These results indicate the successful development of a learning culture at Greig City Academy and we are looking forward to further improvements as our Sixth Form continues to expand".

Principal, Paul Sutton added: "Students and staff are to be congratulated on these results which have been achieved through hard work and sustained commitment.

"Our results this year clearly continue the upward trend in pupil achievement since the Academy opened in September 2002. Once again students have achieved excellent value added scores. As they move on to take up new challenges at University we can all be proud of their achievements".
