A Hornsey school has been named among the 100 most improved secondary schools in the country.
Greig City Academy, in High Street, Hornsey, came 55th in a Department for Education and Skills (DfES) table released last Thursday of the fastest-improving schools in England.
The table is based on last week's Key Stage 3 results - exams usually taken by 14 year olds - and take into account 3,385 secondary schools across the country.
Jim Knight MP, the schools' minister, has written to its principal, Paul Sutton, to congratulate him.
Mr Sutton said of the DfES table: "I am particularly pleased because it represents sustained improvements from 2002. All schools can have good years of results but very few are able to show the consistent improvements over a four-year period, as these figures demonstrate.
"We know that the school is improving but it is good to have the DfES recognise the fact in such a public way."
Mr Sutton thanked pupils, parents, governors and teachers at the school for their hard work and commitment to raising standards.
Last week's Key Stage 3 results showed that the percentage of students who have achieved the national standard of level 5 in English, maths and science, has gone up by almost 20 per cent in four years.
This year, for the first time, more than 50 per cent of pupils achieved level 5 or above in the three core subjects.
Greig City Academy was formed in 2002 as part of the Government's city academy programme.
