WALTHAM FOREST: Guardian's reporters go mobile

THE Waltham Forest Guardian's reporters are now based full-time in YOUR community.

A shake-up of the Guardian's news-gathering operations means reporters are now permanently on patch armed with laptops and mobile phones, uploading stories directly to the web as and when they happen.

Each reporter has been assigned a particular area and they want to get to know you and tell your stories.

Carl Brown will be reporting the news from Leytonstone.

His direct line is 07824530127.

Claire Hack will be reporting from Leyton and can be contacted on 07768507739.

Mhairi Macfarlane will be based in Walthamstow.

Her direct line is 07795316229.

And Jonathan Moyes will be covering the Chingford area, call him on 07795451058.

Our editors and sub-editors are now based at an office in Epping High Street.

We are here to make a difference to the community. To stand up for those whose would otherwise go unheard and to make sure that those in authority listen to the people they represent.

Our website is a goldmine of local information, stuffed full of features, blogs, stories, listings, sport, photogalleries, traffic news, and local advertisers. If you have not visited before, now is a great time to have a look.

It has never been easier to get in touch so if you have a story which you think ought to be heard, there is a team of reporters waiting for your call.

I would love to meet them all, they do a wonderful job.

I have a few things I need to get off my chest and a few bits of information to provide.

Why do they not keep there blogs up to date more often?

"We are here to make a difference to the community. To stand up for those whose would otherwise go unheard"....so why do I get my account suspended on a regular basis?....Oops probably have to set up another one now.

"Shake up" is a coy phrase - this is downsizing! The publishers have clearly killed off the local office and our fearless reporters will now be sat on a park bench near you with laptop and mobile poised for action...

Does this point towards Tesco buying up yet another part of Highams Park Broadway?
Where will people now address a stamped letter-to-the-editor
, the nearest phone box,or perhaps the disused HP signal box?
I would highly recommend they get on their bikes to do the reporting, you'll see more and faster that way than waiting around for johnnie public.
ps Not from Heales' bikes though, your staff wages wouldn't stretch that far.

So the next person you see trying to sell you the Big Issue may be a WFG reporter!
