A BUDDING young scientist has won a scholarship to work with top researchers in Israel.

Vincent Poon, 18, a student at Ilford County High School in Fremantle Road, Barkingside, flew to Israel with nine other students from the UK on Sunday (July 1).

The scholarship was awarded by two leading science professors at University College London and Bristol University.

He will spend three weeks working with scientists at the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot.

The trip will then end with a week of travelling around Israel.

Applications for the 2013 scholarship open in October and forms will be available from weizmann.org.uk.
