BUCKHURST HILL: Robbers steal thousands from pub

ROBBERS made off with thousands of pounds in cash after breaking into a pub and threatening a member of staff.

Two men broke into the rear of Monkhams Inn, in Station Way, Buckhurst Hill, this morning (April 12) at about 12.45am.

The pub was closed but a member of staff, a man in his 40s, was cashing up and one of the suspects threatened him with what police believe was a crowbar.

The member of staff fled and raised the alarm, leaving the two robbers to steal around £2,500 in cash before making off on foot past the nearby community centre.

No-one was injured in the incident.

The two suspects are described as black males in their early 20s.

One of the suspects - the one who threatened the staff member - is described as 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build, clean shaven with a short afro haircut. He was wearing a blue Addidas tracksuit with white stripes down the sleeve and a zip front.

His accomplice is described as 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, slim, and clean shaven. He was wearing a grey hooded long-sleeved top, and was armed with a wooden object, possibly a baseball bat.

Anyone with information is asked to call Loughton CID on 01279 625513 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

If all you have to do is comment on me, I think you should examine your own life.

As for this story, it is just another example of why the Crime figures do not appear to be 'down' as the Police tell us.
