LOUGHTON: Man assaulted with spanner and knife

A MAN needed hospital treatment after a robber attacked him with a spanner and knife.

The 22-year-old victim left Debden tube station shortly before 9.30pm on Wednesday (April 11) when he noticed a man was following him down The Broadway and later Borders Lane.

At the location of a speed camera the assailant hit the man over the head with a spanner. He then tried to grab the victim's bag which he was carrying across his body.

He produced a knife and took the bag, which contained a mobile phone and cash, before making off back towards The Broadway.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated and released with a superfical wound to his head.

The robber was a white male of large build, about 5ft 11ins tall with short ginger hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Ryan Burgess of Waltham Abbey CID on 01279 625513.

So whether Kate is voicing her opinion or not interests you more than the crime reported?! Strange person!
