Hospital acts on low survey ranking

A DAMNING set of figures on patient satisfaction at one ealing hospital have been released today.
The scores in the Healthcare Commission's in-patient survey for Ealing Hospital, in the Uxbridge Road, showed it fell into the bottom 20 per cent of hospital trusts in the majority of questions.
It got the lowest rating in five areas, including the overall quality of care received, how well doctors and nurses work together and the quality of explanations given to patients about surgery.
The survey of 344 adults who had stayed at the hospital for one or more nights, was conducted last August.
However, Julie Lowe, chief executive of Ealing Hospital NHS Trust, said steps being taken to improve customer satisfaction at the hospital since the survey.
She said: "We believe that the changes we are implementing now will improve the way we provide services to patients, and make patients feel they are part of the decision making process in our hospital.
"We have set up an improving patient experience group, made up of staff, patients and trust governors, to explore what we are doing right, and what we need to focus on to make things better."
Paul Reeves, the director of nursing who is chairing the patient experience group, said the hospital is now conducting weekly surveys to address the concerns of patients.
He said: "So far the main concerns have centred around cleanliness, food and the quality of communication.
"We are now drawing up a series of action plans to address these issues, and are publicising to our staff and patients what their concerns are and how we are going to do something about them.
"we have a banner in the entrance to the hospital highlighting patients' concerns. For instance, patients have commented that staff do not always clean their hands with gel.
"We have now put gel by every bed and matrons are driving home the messages to remind staff."

I had a dreadful experience in Ealing Hospital.I had an urine infection I could not pas urine any longer ,I went to the emergency where I must say they were excellent 10 out of 10.The nightmare started when I was admited in hospital,instead to put me in urology they put me in this new ward for patients who don't have a free bad in their ward.Most of the nurses were unfriendly and impolite,some of them looked dirty and they couldn't care less,if one needed something after ringing the bell had to wait too long.I was on antibiotics and several times they forgot to give them to me.Doctors didn't exist as they were busy in their own wards.I needed a prostate operation as soon as possible but they didn't know they could have done it. I was admitted in hospital 31st March and I was given an appointment to see the surgeon 23th May.I'm leaving and working in these country but to have surgery I was forced to go back to Italy.I think it is scary to leave in a country where the medical system cannot be trusted.

There isn't any sane local who would willingly use Ealing Hospital.Julie Lowe, Said they were taking Steps to improve.
Unfortunately Jesus was the last person to be raised from the dead.
I have lost count of the Friends, Family and neighbours who I have lost after they Entered Ealing Hospital.
The Filth in the Wards , the Toilets are never cleaned properly, the beds are never cleaned between Patients.
Doctors and Nurses rarely wash their hands between patients. If Paul Reeves wants patients experience speak to the relatives of Healthy patients who died after contacting Cdif or MRSA.
Channel 4 did an investigation over 5 years ago.
The Third World Filthy Ealing Hospital is still operating.
If a Few MP's, their Families or NHS Trust Worthies were treated there the unhygienic Conditionans would disappear overnight.

The main reason Ealing hospital is so bad is down to the management. Having been an out patient some 15 years ago I felt the place to be contaminated with filth, laziness and incompetence. I wouldn't take my dog there for treatment let alone my family. This problem should have been sorted out at the start

MY EXPERIENCE AT EALING HOSPITAL HAS BEEN DREADFUL.
I RECENTLY HAD A BABY AND THE WAY I WAS SPOKEN TO AND TREATED WAS THE WORSE I HAVE EVER SEEN, I HAVE HAD TWO FAMILY MEMBERS AND ONE FRIEND DIE IN THIS HOSPITAL.
MY SON WAS REFFERED TO EALING HOSPITAL BECAUSE HE HAD A PAIN IN HIS LEG A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO HE WENT FOR THREE SCANS AND STILL THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FOUND HE WAS THEN TOLD BY ONE OF TEH DOCTORS THAT HE MAY HAVE TO JUST DEAL WITH THE PAIN UNTIL WE DECIDED TO FIND THE PROBLEM PRIVATLY IN THE LEG AND LATER FOUND IT TO BE A BEIGN TUMOR
