A CAMPAIGN to promote responsible drinking in the run up to Christmas is being comissioned by Hertfordshire police.
As well as giving pub and bar licensees in Welwyn Hatfield advice and assistance, officers will also be reminding them about the consequences of not serving alcohol responsibly.
Police will be working with Pubwatch and council licensing officers to ensure licensees know what to do if they are approached by someone who should not be served alcohol or if someone is causing disorder on their premises.
A number of venues will be re-visited ahead of Christmas to ensure they are working within the laws around serving someone who is underage or someone who appears to be drunk.
Community safety sergeant Lara Stevenson said: "The festive period is a busy time for licensees and we want everyone to keep safe and have a good time."
