A ROADHUMP that has caused months of misery for residents in an Acton street has been named the fourth worst in Britain.

The Ealing Times ran an exclusive story in October about the bump which appeared outside fashion designer Mitchell Jacobs' house in East Churchfield Avenue while he was away on holiday.

This week a survey by Continental Tyres named the sleeping policeman the fourth worst road hump in Britain.

The bumps were put in along the stretch of road to try and slow traffic approaching a nearby nursery, but the consultation period did not warn residents of the noise that would be created by traffic going over it.

Mr Jacobs was surprised to find the speed hump directly outside his house when he returned from holiday, as it had been moved more than 20 metres up the road without consultation.

He said: "The hump has been moved to right outside my window, so when a car goes over at 4.30am we get woken up by it.

"I work from home and the noise makes it hard to concentrate. Even my kids who are student can't get on with their studies because of the constant volume of traffic moving through."

The council has promised to look into the problem "within this financial year".
