A youth worker who mentored disadvantaged children has admitted hiding up to 100 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin up his backside.
Daniel Williams, 26, from Thornton Heath, had recently started paid work as a mentor for Your Story, an organisation that provides support for children and teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds.
He was arrested in Douglas Road, Kingston, on May 9 during a police operation to crack down on drug dealing in the borough.
advertisement Officers had been watching Williams sitting in a Peugeot in Douglas Road and had seen a second black man, already known to the police for dealing drugs, get into the car.
The men stayed in the car together for about 10 seconds, during which time police believe a drug deal took place. The second man then got out of the car and Williams drove off towards Porchester Road where he was stopped by police.
He was taken to Kingston police station and when searched, police discovered a clear cellophane wrap containing 50 to 100 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine protruding from his rectum.
He was remanded in custody at Kingston Crown Court on Monday and will be sentenced on July 23.
