ERIC Morecambe's son has created his own short film, which is a far cry from his dad's humour.
Gary Morecambe worked with Bucks New University student, Brad Baraud, who is studying Film and Television Studies to create the short film, Ticking, which was all filmed on a mobile phone.
Brad went to sixth form with Gary's son, Arthur, and friend Ollie Kennedy in Dorset which is how the production team came together.
Gary said: "We have shot it all on a phone. That was the idea- pushing the boundary of that technology."
Brad worked as director of photography, Ollie did the sound, stunt arranging, computer work, and composed an original soundtrack and Arthur joined them in an executive producer’s role.
Ticking is about the daughter of a Special Forces operative and a mentally unstable mother who turns to killing her boyfriends for sport, which will premiere on a Sky channel in late Spring.
It features London-based actors Peter Halpin, James Capel and Karina Sugden.
Although Gary, who now lives in Bath, has written 22 books it is the first time he has written a film script.
So how did he decide the subject? He said: "You don't have to be Freud to work that one out. It is a deliberate step away from comedy. My mother said, 'Can't you make a cheerful film?'"
Gary, 55, said living with his dad's fame, who was one half of comedy duo, Morecambe and Wise, when he was growing up was a little weird.
But he said: "He has been dead nearly 30 years. He still means a lot to the public. It is still a testament to them."
And although overall it was great growing up with his dad he said: "Living with the constant humour wasn't easy- living with someone who is absolutely on form all the time."
He said he does not think he was the same with his children, although Arthur seemed to disagree.
Arthur, 20, does not plan to go into the film industry and is going to study Philosophy and Anthropology at Oxford Brooks.
Brad, 20, said: "This is the career we wanted to go into. Working with Gary and to go straight in there with lots of experience has been great."
Ollie, 19, and Brad are setting up a film company called Sundown Digital.
The team will next work on a new short film shot with a digital camera and based on one of Gary's own published short stories.
