A PUBLIC consultation on controversial plans for a new stadium for Wycombe Wanderers and London Wasps will start this month, subject to approval.
Wycombe District Council will hold a public consultation on planning options for a new stadium and community sports facilities from Friday, September 17 until Friday, October 29, subject to councillors' approval at Monday night's Cabinet meeting.
The authority has attracted controversy over plans to spend up to £750,000 on the project to replace Adams Park with a 17,500 to 20,000 seater stadium.
An option to have further facilities include synthetic pitches, indoor football and rugby pitches, a hotel, conference centre and training facilities has also been mooted.
A further option to add a ‘sports village’ featuring badminton and squash courts, a cricket pitch, track and field facilities and a sports centre have also be announced.
19 sites have been named which ‘fit the assumptions’ needed for the development.
These include Wycombe Air Park, Cressex Island, the former Compair site in High Wycombe town centre, Marlow gravel pits and Terriers Farm.
A series of public events will be held on the plans during the proposed consultation period:
· Saturday, September 25, 10am-4pm, High Wycombe Library.
· Tuesday, October 5, 5-8pm, Court Garden Leisure Complex, Marlow.
· Thursday, October 14, 5-8pm, Risborough Information Centre, Princes Risborough.
While further 'discussion forums' will be held on the following dates:
· Thursday, September 30, 7-9pm, The King’s Centre, Desborough Road, High Wycombe.
· Tuesday, October 12, 7-9pm, The Town Hall, Queen Victoria Road, High Wycombe.
