POP star Cyndi Lauper’s former designer is to bring her own brand of ‘kitsch’ to High Wycombe with a new shop.
Juliet Hamilton will open ‘Kitsch Me Kwick’ in Queen Victoria Road tomorrow at home of the former record store, the ‘Magical Mystery Shop’.
The 49-year-old worked with the 80s singer, whose hits included ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’, and stars Sinitta and The Human League.
The shop will sell antiques, clothes and jewellery. The move comes after concerns that the Eden shopping centre is pulling trade away from the Eastern side of town.
But Miss Hamilton said: “It is a good, prominent location. This is quite an arty area with a lot of creative people.
“I think it is unfortunate that Wycombe has been slotted into this pound shop stroke charity shop type area. I don’t think it needs to be like that.
“It could be quite a lovely town.”
The High Wycombe resident was previously course leader for fashion and clothing at Amersham & Wycombe College.
The Magical Mystery shop was opened last year, selling records and pop memorabilia.
Owner Marco Iorio was not available for comment.
