Wycombe features on Google Street View

Wycombe features on Google Street View Wycombe features on Google Street View

WYCOMBE has featured in Google’s controversial street view programme, which takes high quality ground level photographs of streets.

Visitors can look at photographs of the A4010 Bradenham Road heading south onto the West Wycombe Road and then right into Chaple Lane and New Road.

A car fitted with a camera has then taken pictures turning left into Cressex Road and down to the M40 junction 4 roundabout at Handy Cross.

Number plates and faces are obscured – but browsers can zoom onto houses and into windows. The programme tells the user the house number being viewed.

This has concerned some who say the programme is a violation of privacy and could attract would-be burglars.

Villagers in Broughton in north Bucks infamously blocked a road so Google’s car could not pass through.

What do you think? Leave your comments below. Click the link to visit Google Street View. Drag the orange figure onto the road to view.

What a waste of time and money.

I expect the natives of Broughton thought their souls might be captured by the camera. Strange country folk in Bucks.

So Wycombe really does exist.

Phew.

Not much of Wycombe is covered yet though. It almost looks as if the Google camera car was trying to escape Wycombe and left the camera on by mistake :-) Only joking, I love Wycombe.

I'm not worried about the privacy issues, you can only see what can be seen by driving/walking down the street. People shouldn't do rude things in front of their windows if they don't want neighbours/the whole Internet laughing at them.

But not our fat friend... and you won't confirm who it is. You are just a tease. I think we should be told :-)

I see he felt brave enough to get the camera out again this week.

I like the way the maps are kept nice and up to date. The beautiful Bridge Street car park is still there. And also the "I love Holywell Mead Pool Clan" can take a glimpse of the good old days of there beloved swimming pool.

Yeah FF, but he doesn't exist.

Ok, so it would be fairly amusing to see the bumbling oaf, feasting on 36 rounds of sandwiches, sporting a blazer, greasy comb-over with camera at the ready. But he and his latest attack dog really are just fictional characters dreamed up at bfp in Loudwater.

Only this time, some people are really turned off by the whole thing and waiting patiently for Rebecca's far superior blog.

Come on bfp, sort it out. Or can't you allow your in house blogging creation to be humiliated!!

Yeah Fred, I know! But that naughty little Plus ça change knows which journo is chiefly responsible... and he won't tell :-(
No, there will be no more comments from us on the in house blog unless there are some radical changes. A sincere apology to certain parties wouldn't go amiss either BFP but I long gave up waiting for that.
Do you think they will fix Rebecca's blog? Or do you think we will start disappearing one by one...... haven't heard from Priestly for a while?

Amazing.

On 'Street' I'm sure I've just glimpsed the Roman villa on the Rye...

You know, where Maximus lived.

Was the special camera mounted on a chariot?

It's a good job you didn't post one of the images on the BFP web site... Oh, you did?

Buy a big dog and keep it sharp...by feeding it just enough!

Funny no tea leaves at my place since the dogs live outside!

I can tell you all now - no word of a lie... Ivor DOES exist and he is not a BFP reporter.

I kid you not.

Sorry guys - have been floating round the site and just got back.
Okay - I have had a conversation with a very senior member of the team concerning some problems I had and I was assured then that he was real.
Please don't ask me anymore but trust what I say.
Whether "Ivor" is a character made up by a member of the public is something else... BUT he is nothing to do with the BFP!

Uzal zee U lanbator yurt ghengis yak. (Outer Mongolian talk - usually written in Cyrillic in the Mongol kel dialect).
.
Meaning -" We'll see you when you get back"
.
Please be careful how you use the your vowels while you're out there ; you have to be sensitive on using certain significant inflections.
