A MUSIC college is broadcasting live interactive performances on the internet for schoolchildren.
The saxophone department at The Trinity College of Music at Greenwich’s Old Royal Naval College, is using the free computer program Skype to link with Aldersbrook Primary School in Wanstead.
Student musicians are using a laptop video camera so pupils can hear and see the performance.
College saxophone professor and project leader Melanie Henry hopes they will be able to expand the project to include other schools.
She said: “We're really excited about the possibilities of this project. Many schools don't have the budget to bring in quality performers and finding available performance space is also often a problem.
“The children often ask how old our students were when they started playing. When they find out they started in year six - at the same age as the children. It really inspires them."
