Calls for plaque in honour of Petts Wood topless 'Running Man'
Orpington and Petts Wood residents are calling for a plaque in memory of ‘The Running Man’ who recently passed away.
James Gilson, famed for his daily topless runs through Petts Wood, Bromley and Orpington, was thought to be 87 years old at the time of his death.
News Shopper has been flooded with tributes to the pensioner who “brought smiles and inspiration” to thousands of people.
The Facebook page Fans of The Running Man has also seen hundreds of tributes.

Mandy Horobin-Worley: “I doff my (metaphorical) cap to Mr Gilson.
“Seeing him always brought a wide and happy smile to my face, and a sense that all was well with the world. My condolences to his loved ones. May this outpouring of affection bring some comfort.”
Michael Walker: “Wouldn't it be nice for Bromley council to do something to acknowledge this local man.
“If it we're a mayor or someone famous a plaque would be made and up by now so lets have something for an ordinary man who gave hope to thousands across our borough.”
Natasha Tomkins: “My children used to love spotting him on car journeys. Wonder how many miles he must have run. RIP a true inspiration you are never too old to do what you love x”
