Cadets on award trail
Sgt Ross Lakhrif, 18, prepares to set off
Sgt Ross Lakhrif, 18, prepares to set off

TEN cadets have completed a 30-mile expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The air cadets, from 1921 (Lewisham) Squadron, took three days to complete the trek, which will help them achieve a Silver Award.

It took place in Hertford from April 25 to April 27 with cadets camping on different sites each night and carrying their equipment around all day.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Luke Adams, 18, said: "The last few miles were tough, but none of us wanted to give up so near to the finish."

Further expeditions are planned for later in the year.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme requires participants to learn new skills, serve their community, keep fit and train for an expedition, to achieve either Bronze, Silver or Gold awards.

1921 (Lewisham) Squadron is part of the Air Cadet Organisation, which is open to young people aged from 13 to 18.
