IMPROVEMENTS to local roads have reduced the number of accidents caused by potholes Hillingdon Council claims.

A report published by the council found accidents caused by uneven road surfaces are at their lowest since 1997.

Mary Worrall, head of highways and green spaces at the council, said: "This is proof that a safer borough is one of the council's top priorities.

"We are investing an extra £700,000 in resurfacing and repairs in residential areas to improve the streets for all users including drivers, pedestrians and cyclists alike.

"We appreciate it when people let us know about dangerous defects on roads and pavements. By working together we can reduce these numbers even further."
