Deliveries to new Tesco superstore in Highams Park could begin at 6am

LORRIES could make deliveries to a new Tesco store as early as 6am if a proposal is passed by Waltham Forest Council.

The new superstore is due to open in Highams Park later this year but the supermarket giant wants to change its delivery times to schedule lorry arrivals between 6am and 11pm, instead of from 7am to 11pm.

But the vehicles will have to pass by sleeping households in Wadham Road and Hale End Road on their way to the 24-hour megastore off Larkshall Road.

People can register their comments until August 15, after which the plan will be approved or rejected by the authority.

Whatever happened to the old road that went though the old Halex site (where Tesco is being built for those who were not around during the 1960's) that linked up to their depot at the top of Higham Station Avenue leading to Chingford Road?
