CONSTRUCTION of a new Tesco superstore was halted today when a man collapsed at the building site.
The man, thought to be aged in his 50s, was taken unwell at 9.45am this morning (Tuesday February 7).
A Met spokesman said it was too early to tell if he was a builder.
Two ambulances, a fast responder car and a police car all attended the scene, close to Hickman Avenue.
Work on the 24-hour supermarket and 253 adjacent flats, off Larkswood Road, is expected to be completed this year.
The development was strongly opposed by residents who feared it would change the character of the area and lead to congestion and major disruption.
