A SLIMMER is urging her fellow weight-watchers to join her on sponsored diet after her niece lost her battle against cancer.
Cheryl Willats, 44, of Lawton Road in Loughton, has already recruited fellow members of her Theydon Bois slimming group to the cause, and is hoping that other calorie counters might take part.
Her niece, Mackenna Channing, died in 2010 at the age of seven, after a two-and-a-half year battle against Ewing’s sarcoma, and the group are planning to raise money for a charity which supports cancer victims.
“We want to do it for CLIC Sargent, my sister’s chosen charity, because it’s such a good cause,” she said.
“We would just like to raise as much money as possible.” CLIC Sargent provides specialist nursing for children suffering from cancer along with support for their families.
Anyone who wants to join the sponsored slim should go to one of the Slimming World group’s meetings, which are held at St Mary’s church hall in Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, between 7pm and 8.30pm on Wednesdays.
