A YOUNG radioshow host has had her community spirit acknowledged with the award of the Essex Police Cup.
Debden Park High School student Hannah Webster, 15, was awarded her prize by the Chief Constable of Essex Jim Barker-McCardle for her work in helping to set up the Loughton Youth Project.
Over the past 12 months, Hannah has been instrumental in getting youngsters involved in the project, and also helped to decorate its new permanent home, the Space, next to Loughton Library, in Traps Hill.
She co-presents her own radio show on Fridays and recently completed a Level 2 OCN course in Radio Broadcasting at Gateway FM in Basildon.
Hannah said: “It's been an amazing year, and hopefully more and more young people will start visiting The Space and get involved with LYP Radio because it’s much more rewarding than just hanging around on the streets.”
The Essex Police Cup was presented to Hannah at a meeting of the Essex High Sheriff’s Awards which recognises the work of voluntary and community associations across the county.
Hannah’s radio show is available to download as a podcast at loughtonyouthproject.com.
