CABBIE MURDER TRIAL: A murder trial started this week in connection with the death of 71-year-old taxi driver, Gian Chand Bajar. Luke Aujila, aged 21, of no fixed address, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court. He is accused of murdering Mr Bajar in St Benedict's Avenue, Gravesend, on May 23 last year. Aujila has already pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Bajar.
QUARRY DEATH: Police are investigating the death of a man who was found at the bottom of a quarry but say they are not treating the incident as suspicious. The body of 35-year-old Lee Finnis was found by officers from north Kent police at around 8.30pm on May 1 in a quarry in Greenhithe. An inquest was opened and adjourned on Friday.
FATAL FALL: A 20-year-old man has died after falling from a multi-storey car park in Gravesend. North Kent police received reports of the incident at Thamesgate Shopping Centre, in Clive Road, at around 7pm last Tuesday. An ambulance crew took the man to Darent Valley Hospital, where he later died.
TAKEAWAY ASSAULT: A 55-year-old man has serious head injuries after being assaulted outside a Gravesend takeaway. The incident happened near Pizza GoGo in New Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday. Call Kent police on 01474 369055 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 with information.
