CHINGFORD: Two road crashes wreak early-morning havoc
TWO road smashes in quick succession gave many residents a rude awakening early on Sunday morning.
Three vehicles were destroyed when a vehicle recovery lorry ploughed into the rear of a tipper truck in Waltham Way, Chingford, at around 7.20am.
The crash sent two parked cars hurtling towards the centre of the road and left the truck's cab lodged in a tree.
There are no reports of any serious injuries.
As fire crews from Chingford, Woodford and Edmonton were finishing up at the scene, they were called to another accident in Broadmead Road, Woodford Green.
A black car had hit a traffic island before coming to rest 30 metres down the road.
The woman driver escaped from the vehicle unhurt minutes before emergency services arrived.
The northbound stretch was closed for an hour while the road was cleared and made safe.
