CHINGFORD: Murdered teen's loved-ones suffer harassment
THE family and friends of murdered teenager Danielle Johnson are suffering a campaign of harassment.
Her grave has been desecrated several times, a gang of boys lurk in a car outside her house and her friend was phoned by a girl pretending to be Danielle.
Cruel messages were also left on her online memorial site.
Her loved ones decided to speak out after her murderer Marc King-Bromley was sentenced to life last week.
They told the Guardian flowers laid on her grave were burnt soon after her funeral, balloons tied to her headstone were burst and teddy bears left on her grave were kicked away and left with footprints on them.
The grave in Chingford Mount Cemetery has been desecrated six or seven times since Danielle was buried last August.
Her friend of seven years, Mel Thomas, 16, of Chingford Mount, said that on one visit she was horrified to see the shape of a coffin carefully drawn in the earth at the grave.
The incidents were so serious that police were called in to guard the cemetery.
Mel, whose doctor sent her to bereavement counselling after she started suffering chest pains, received a disturbing ten minute mobile phone call from someone claiming to be Danielle, which she recorded.
The callous girl said she was Mel's "good friend Danielle" alive and well and living in Birmingham, and gave accurate personal details about her and her family.
She even claimed the friend Mel had visited in hospital the day before she died was an impostor.
"I felt angry and upset and nobody could believe it when I told them." Mel said.
"It was a spiteful thing to do."
Danielle's Mum Jan Johnson, of Bushey Grove, Chingford, said she felt very nervous because a gang of youths drive up and down her street until four in the morning and park outside her home.
Even visiting her daughter's grave is not peaceful.
She said: "Now I never know what I'm going to find. I can't take her brothers there because they notice it straight away and get really upset.
"They don't hurt Danielle now, they hurt everyone that loved her."

This is sickening. Another example (like the teen murders, 9-year-old threatened with a knife, etc) of how stupid we are to let children rule our streets. Adults have given up responsibility, but it's not good for them or us.
Police, courts, politicians and social services need to focus on making the streets safe, and work back from there. No initiative will be successful if children are, realistically, scared of the other children who control their area.

Although as a Nation we've become richer in the past twenty years it is clear that a new underclass has developed.
They believe they are above the law and state, but conversely believe the state owes them a living in handouts.
I would be willing to bet that the people involved in this loathsome behaviour fit this profile.
Until the Government tackles this social phenomena (instead of hiding behind Political correctness.."it's not their fault"), this problem will only grow.
As Sceptic correctly points out it starts with teaching the kids discipline and allowing teachers to administer discipline, because they are obviously not getting it from their parents.
It's time the Government held people responsible for their actions and stopped making excuses for them.
I could weep when I see what Chingford has become, twenty years ago the Mount was a thriving, clean and prosporous suburb where you could walk around without fear for your life. Now...

Racist is a dangerous term to be bandied around so freely Akram, shame on you. You do not know me and I do not know you.
I was simply commenting on the fact that 20 years ago Chingford Mount was not in the mess it is in today.
If I could develop a time machine and take you back there at that time you would agree with me.
Race simply has no involvement in this discussion. It is the fault of the Government as I have set out.
I ask that you retract your statement.

Akram, where on earth has David said anything about race? It's the breakdown of society, parents not disciplining their children, not taking any notice of what they're doing that is causing this problem. Everything to do with social breakdown and bad parenting, nothing to do with racism.

Akram, you haven't provided any evidence to back your insult and it looks as if you don't even live in the borough. People know if crime has gone up in their own area.
Most of the victims of violent crime are black kids, but presumably that's fine by you. By trying to prevent debate, you're supporting the killers.
The fact that people shut up for fear of being called 'racist' shows that they're anti-racist, otherwise they would welcome the name!

Hi Annoymas of Chingford.
In answer to your question I lived in Chingford from 1982 to 1997. I spent a very happy childhood there going to some great Schools. Chase Lane, Wellington and Nevin Drive.
My parents still live in Chingford.
So I'm sure you'll agree that I am able to make a valid and informed comment.

Akram's comment has summed it all up. You cannot make any comment without people using the race card. What David has said is totally correct, the area and the borough has gone totally downhill due to bad government both locally and nationally. I left Chingford 4 years ago after spending all my life there, and when I go back the gradual decline is heartbreaking.

Sadly, our society has increase it's wealth. And, on the whole we are much better off after 11 years of Labour government. But in everyday living and mingling in society - economic well being is not immediately in your mind. It is the increased crime, breakdown of social values, lack of marriage, decreased Christian values, mass immigration etc. These all have helped created a more secular, 'me, me' and un-respectful culture. We need to re-engage with our communities, go to meetings, meet out neighbours, work together as a community etc. Only, then can we reclaim the streets and help reduce the yob culture.
