CHINGFORD: Murdered teenager's mother speaks of 'life sentence of pain'
 |
| Marc King-Bromley has been jailed for 12 years |
The mother of murdered teenager Danielle Johnson has spoken of her guilt at not being able to protect her daughter.
Marc King-Bromley, 17, was sentenced to a minimum of 12 years on Friday after admitting killing Danielle in what the judge described as a "terrifying and frenzied attack".
Ms Johnson's mother told the court that her adopted daughter's death has left her with a "life sentence of pain."
Jan Johnson was too upset to speak herself, so a prosecution counsel read out an impact statement on her behalf at the Old Bailey.
Mrs Johnson said she adopted Danielle when she was just two years old.
She said: "When she was growing up we had more than a mother and daughter relationship. We would go shopping together, and have girls' weekends together
"We had many memories of Danielle, and all of them are precious.
"Many times I've felt its pointless me even being here.
"I go to counselling once a week but it only makes me feel worse.
"Now I live with the guilt of not being with her to protect her when she needed me most, this has left me with a life sentence of pain."
Danielle Johnson ,17, of Bushey Road, Chingford, died after being stabbed and beaten up in broad daylight in Bounds Green, north London.
