CHIGWELL/HAINAULT: Murder victim's brother remanded in custody
THE brother of murdered schoolboy Jack Large has been remanded in custody charged in connection with burglaries in the Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell area, the Guardian can reveal.
Tom Large, 18, was one of four youths arrested during a joint Essex Police and Metropolitan Police operation specifically aimed at targeting burglaries.
Three men were arrested an hour into last Thursday's operation. A fourth person was detained later.
All were remanded when they appeared before Chelmsford magistrates yesterday (Saturday).
Tom Large and Ricky Westsall, 18, were remanded in custody to appear before Harlow magistrates on Friday (April 4).
A 15-year-old boy was remanded to a young offenders institution while a 14-year-old boy will appear before Harlow youth court on Friday.
Jack Large, 14, died in the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, after he was stabbed on the Limes Farm Estate, in Chigwell, last November.
Two teenagers, aged 13 and 14 at the time of their arrest, have been remanded into secure accommodation charged with his murder. They are expected to stand trial in October.
Hundreds of people attended his funeral earlier this month.
His coffin - carried on a horse-drawn carriage from his home in Yeomen Way, Hainault - was taken past the spot by the parade of shops in Limes Avenue, where he was attacked.
