CHIGWELL School's mathematics quiz team reached the quarter-finals of the Hans Woyda Inter-Schools Mathematics Quiz competition.
Yuqing Zhang, Xiao Qian Lin, Andrew Liddell, Alastair Morton and Neroshen Mohan won their group matches against local rivals Bancroft's, Forest (tied) and Ilford County High School to reach the knockout stages.
They then defeated Notting Hill and Ealing High School to set up a tense battle against Merchant Taylor's School, which also knocked Chigwell ut at the same stage last year.
