CHIGWELL: Go-ahead for Grange Farm homes
PERMISSION has finally been granted to build 32 homes on Grange Farm - over 20 years after the site became dormant.
The proposal, which will also see two gatehouse buildings and a pocket park built at the site, off High Road, Chigwell, received unanimous approval from councillors.
The district council's area planning committee meeting was told that the project had received very positive feedback from local residents.
The applicant's agent added: "We feel the proposal will create a development which is less intensive and better designed than could possibly have been envisaged and will result in attractive desirable homes."
Gordon Gilchrist, who lives in the High Road, near the site, told the committee he had concerns about buildings overlooking his property.
He said: "This is one of the biggest developments to hit Chigwell Village for many years, if at all. I'm not trying to change the development per se. What I'm concerned about is the loss of use and invasion of my privacy."
Councillors voted to insert an extra condition in the permission to allow for hedges and obscure glazing in the properties to remedy this situation.
