CHIGWELL: Grange Farm housing scheme comes step closer

FINALISED plans to build 32 homes and two gatehouse buildings at Grange Farm, Chigwell, have received the support of the parish council.

Councillor John Knapman expressed surprise at the number of dwellings submitted for approval as construction company Byrne Estates Ltd already has outline approval for 45 units on the site.

He told the planning committee: "I don't have any problems with this. The only thing I'd say is that it could have been 45 dwellings. My worry would be that they could come back with a higher number."

He added: "It's in a form which is not unappealing. They've got quite a lot of ground space. I'm inclined to support."

The proposed development marks the end of more than 15 years of schemes for the land with previous proposals including plans to develop the site for a sports and holiday village.

Permission for the scheme will be decided by Epping Forest District Council.
