CHIGWELL: Vehicles seized in crime crackdown
ONE man was arrested and three vehicles seized as part of a police crackdown on vehicle crime in the Limes Farm area of Chigwell.
Officers from the Chigwell road policing unit took to the estate following reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
After stopping numerous cars one man was arrested for taking a vehicle without consent and three vehicles were seized for having no insurance with their owners issued with penalty notices.
One car owner was given a summons for having no insurance or driving licence, two penalty notices were issued for cars with no MoT certificates and three penalty notices were issued for driving without a seatbelt.
The operation was headed up by PC Dave Ford and PC Simon Willsher.
PC Willsher said: "Essex Police is committed to respond positively to reduce crime and disorder. We will take action where the public's safety is put at risk. We will act to stop people driving in an irresponsible way.
"Drivers who fail to get insurance fail to consider the compensation needs of those injured by road collisions and it is disapointing that so many chose not to have the cover required for their vehicles.
"We will be carrying out further patrols in marked and unmarked vehicles to reassure law abiding residents and to target those who flout the law to make Limes Farm safer."
