CHIGWELL: Flats go-ahead for Manor Hall site
PERMISSION has been granted to convert Chigwell's Manor Hall into ten flats.
Epping Forest District Council's planning committee voiced unanimous approval for the plan which would see the demolition of the existing function hall to be replaced by ten two-bedroom apartments.
Councillor David Bateman said: "I will give this application my support, mainly because of the lack of properties for the elderly. I don't think this matter is being addressed properly."
Some concern was raised by councillors over the potential loss of privacy to the Manor Road building's next door neighbour but these were alleviated when planning officers agreed to add a condition ensuring a balcony would not overlook their property.
