Stansted Mountfitchet: Police launch appeal over "vicious" train station attack

BRITISH Transport police have launched an appeal over a "vicious" attack at Stansted Mountfitchet Train Station, which left three local teengers with injuries.

Around 11:15pm on Friday 2 May a group of four friends were waiting for a train at platform two when one was approached by a youth, who asked them for a cigarette.

The youth was then joined by another male, before the two launched into what police described as a "vicious and unprovoked attack" on the four teens.

One victim, aged 17, was punched in the head, while his 18 year old friend was punched and left with a cut to his face.

The third victim, also 18, was left with two broken teeth as a result of being punched in the mouth.

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Sarah Trotter said: "This was a vicious and unprovoked attack that has left a group of friends badly shaken.

"Three teenagers have been violently assaulted for no reason and it is vital that anyone with information comes forward as soon as possible to help us with our enquiries."

The two suspects are described as white males in their late teens. Both were wearing thick gold chains.

Anyone with information should contact BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting incident number 80 of 03/05/08 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
