Mystery of body at recycling plant
THE decomposed body of a man found in Crayford yesterday had been through the recycling system.
Police were called at 2pm on Tuesday (May 13) to Viridor's Materials Recycling Facility in Century Wharf after the body was discovered.
The man has not been identified but a post-mortem examination is expected to take place this afternoon.
The body was found intact but was decomposed.
A spokesman for the police said: "At this stage we are treating the man's death as unexplained.
"We believe the body arrived through the recycling system."
The recycling plant in Crayford receives dry materials for recycling from both household and commercial collections.
A Viridor spokesman said the centre will remain closed until the investigation is finished and the company is working to provide alternative arrangements for its customers.
