Busy hospital taking on nine new recruits
DESPITE uncertainty about its future, Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup is still busy recruiting staff.
It has just taken on nine new nursing staff to supplement a staff of six and strengthen the support for its ward managers.
Four new practice development matrons will work alongside front-line nurses, to help improve skills and knowledge.
Another new recruit is a matron specialising in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers.
Three further matrons will focus on patient care, practice development and infection control.
A second infection control nurse has also been employed, bringing the number of staff dedicated to dealing with hospital acquired infections to three.
The hospital claims the number of staff joining has exceeded the number leaving for three out of the past four months.
Hospital chief executive Kate Grimes said: "These developments demonstrate our continued commitment to improving staffing and providing high quality patient care."
