Barnet man held over headless body murder
 |
| John Finney's body was found in Ickleford on March 14 |
A Barnet man has been charged with the murder of a driver whose headless and handless body was found dumped in Hertfordshire.
The body of 42-year-old John Finney was found in Ickleford on March 14.
It is thought he had been abducted from his vehicle on February 29.
Mr Finney was identified partly by the tattoos on his body.
Mark Curran, 28, was arrested last Thursday in connection with the death.
He appeared at Hemel Hempstead magistrates' court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.
A 59-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from North London, were arrested in Spain, also on Thursday, on suspicion of murder.
They were detained under a European arrest warrant and are currently being held there.
Mr Finney's disappearance was reported to police on March 1 by his cousin and his abandoned Mitsubishi Shogun was found in Northaw, near Potters Bar.
A post mortem on March 16 failed to determine a cause of death and further forensic examinations will take place, police said.
A police spokesman added that Mr Finney and his family were well-known within the travelling community.
The investigation has been carried out by the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit.
