iPhone owners are the most likely to send a sexy text message or "sext", according to a new poll.
A survey by YouGov found that more than 30% of iPhone users had sent an explicit message, compared to 21% of Blackberry users and 17% of those with a Samsung device.
Sending rude messages appears to be a growing trend in the UK, with 19% of all smartphone users also admitting that they had sent a cheeky message or photo to the wrong person. Of those who had made this mistake, 4% were accidentally sent to a mother-in-law.
Duncan Spencer, managing director of insurance2go.co.uk, who commissioned the research, said: "It does seem that iPhone owners are certainly a little more risque when it comes to their mobile communications.
"The moral of the story is that if you are going to send cheeky messages 'check before you sext', otherwise you might find your private photo going viral. There are some things that can never be unseen."
Other smartphone owners have seemingly followed this advice and are more cautious when it comes to the more private side of relationships, according to the poll. Just 7% of Samsung owners who have ever sent a 'sext' saw it end up in the wrong hands, while 7% of HTC users had seen an explicit picture message sent to the wrong person.
The survey found that 12% of iPhone owners have ended a relationship by text message - double the national average, while more than 13% of HTC owners had been dumped via text message, making them the most unlucky in love.
With dating and relationship apps becoming more and more popular on the App Store and Google Play, these findings are unsurprising.
Apps like Tinder, where users are shown other users close to their location and must give a positive reaction to them in the form of a tick, and receive one back in order to start communicating, have become infamous among smartphone users, as well as on social media because of its to-the-point, location-based set up.
These latest figures show that text messaging has not completely gone out of fashion just yet, although it is not always producing the desired results.
