American actress Leslie Mann has described how her celebrity husband pursued her after they first met, despite her trying to cancel a dinner invitation from him.
She met Judd Apatow, her husband of 16 years, as she auditioned for mid-1990s movie The Cable Guy, which Apatow was producing.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, she said Apatow was reading the part of Jim Carey and after she left the room, he said: "There goes the future Mrs Apatow."
Despite her initially feeling attracted to Ben Stiller, who was directing the film, Apatow continued his pursuit and finally won her over during a dinner date.
"I tried to cancel on him, but he wouldn't let me. He made me spaghetti with Ragu sauce from a jar. It was so sweet. That was all he knew how to make," she said.
"I remember looking at Judd and it hit me. I thought, 'This is the kind of guy I should be with, one who's nice to me'."
The couple now live in Los Angeles with their two daughters, Maude, 16, and Iris, 11.
Apatow's long list of credits include producing hit film Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy and directing The 40-Year-Old Virgin, which Mann acted in.
Her latest project is the animated film Mr Peabody And Sherman, based on the 1960s US cartoon characters.
