The Million Pound Drop has been renewed for a new series on Channel 4.

The episodes are scheduled to air this summer, with former Big Brother presenter Davina McCall returning as host.

This series will feature celebrity faces and a themed game featuring "surprising pairs" and four player teams taking on the Drop.

Davina said of the show, which first aired in 2010: "So pleased The Million Pound Drop is coming back! I literally love, love, love presenting it and can't wait to see if anyone can win big this season!"

Channel 4's head of entertainment Justin Gorman added: "It's great to welcome back one of our most exhilarating shows, and once again we're excited to add another twist to proceedings."

James Fox, Remarkable TV's head of entertainment, said: "We're thrilled to be back and, with more ways to play than ever before, we can't wait to see who's got what it takes to handle the pressure and beat the Drop."

The same old dumbed down, turgid detritus on a demented loop, channel 4 is absolutely hopeless, however so are all of the other channels.
