Kate Winslet has explained the inspiration behind her baby son's unusual name Bear Blaze.
The Hollywood actress and new husband Ned Rocknroll became parents to Kate's third child in December.
She told Ellen DeGeneres that her other children, Mia, 13, and Joe, 10, had a hand in naming Bear.
"It was really lovely, actually, they were very much included, and we settled on Bear quite early on," Us Weekly reported the Oscar winner saying.
The Divergent actress, who was previously married to Jim Threapleton and Sam Mendes, added: "A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear and I just had always really loved it.
"And he was very much a bear. He was everyone's shoulder to cry on, he was a big bear hug, he was a great figure in my life," she said.
Kate, 38, told the chat show that she gave Bear the middle name Blaze because she and Virgin Galactic executive Ned met on Sir Richard Branson's private island before a fire destroyed the tycoon's luxury estate.
"Bear's second name is Blaze because my husband and I met in a house fire basically. Well, we did," she said.
"The house burned down and we survived. But we wanted something of the fire, and so Blaze was the name that we came up with."
The actress also explained why her husband - who is Sir Richard's nephew - changed his surname to Rocknroll.
"People who know Ned they know he's very much about irony and living life and having fun," she said.
