Idris Elba and Chiwetel Ejiofor are among the star-studded line-up on the front cover of Vanity Fair's Hollywood issue.

The British actors take centre stage of the magazine's special edition, alongside fellow Brit Naomie Harris, who stars opposite Idris in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

Oscar nominee Julia Roberts - who received a nod for her role in August: Osage County - is seen draping her long legs over Luther star Idris, as she sits on his lap, beside George Clooney and Chiwetel, who is up for best actor for his performance as Solomon Northup in Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave.

Other stars pictured by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz in the three-page fold-out cover include Dallas Buyers Club's Jared Leto, Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie, French actress Lea Seydoux, 12 Years A Slave's Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B Jordan, Brie Larson and Chadwick Boseman.

Half of the cover's line-up are black stars, which is a stark contrast to its 2010 issue, which was criticised for its "pretty, thin, female and white" line-up of young actresses, including Carey Mulligan and Kristen Stewart.

Vanity Fair said it selected the "distinguished" group of actors to celebrate "a year of spectacular film".

The US magazine launched its Hollywood issue in 1995 with Gwyneth Paltrow, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in the all-female line-up. The 2014 edition marks the 20th anniversary.
