Benedict Cumberbatch has sent himself up in a Sesame Street video with Muppets Count von Count and Murray Monster.
Spoofing the British actor's hit show Sherlock, Murray Monster joins Cumberbatch on screen and asks repeatedly: "Did you miss me?" before declaring: "I'm Murray-arty, your arch nemesis."
The Star Trek actor patiently and repeatedly tries to get a sceptical Murray (voice by Joseph Mazzarino) to believe that he is not actually Sherlock Holmes but just plays the detective on TV.
They are then joined by Count von Count (Jerry Nelson) as they explain how to count up four apples and three oranges, and which is the greater number.
In a send up of Sherlock's "mind palace" the words "4 apples" and "3 oranges" appear above the fruit with a bracket indicating which is which.
At the end of the sketch a bracket appears by Cumberbatch's head with the words "1 smart man".
The video was posted online on PBS's YouTube channel.
Benedict filmed the spot in January, when he joined actress Amanda Abbington to promote the new Sherlock season in front of a TV critics meeting in Pasadena, California.
"I just met with the Muppets," he revealed at the time. "It was so much fun. They are real!"
