Dappy: Tulisa is an inspiration
Dappy has defended his N-Dubz bandmate Tulisa Contostavlos, calling her "an inspiration".
Tulisa has had a tough time after being replaced on The X Factor and arrested over drugs allegations, and Dappy told the Daily Mirror that the star was initially "a mess".
He revealed how Tulisa broke down after she heard of the impending drugs investigation, not long after it was confirmed she wouldn't be back on the singing show.
"Me and Tulisa were in her house sitting in the pitch black with the blinds down and she was on my shoulder, crying on me," he said.
"I was holding her as she sobbed, 'What am I going to do now'. We stayed up until 11 the next morning. We didn't eat anything, barely talked and instead just sat there weeping."
He went on: "What do you do after being on a show like that? She had turned her life around and in an instant all her good work was destroyed. We are just human beings at the end of the day and while champagne corks were being popped in some quarters, she was a mess."
However, Dappy said the singer deserves more credit than she gets, particularly after showing her courage and determination by overcoming a tough childhood.
"She rose above it all and changed her life," he said.
"Now she's a woman and has done X Factor and a lot of people in the country look up to her. Now those same people may turn against her. It's not on and is not right. She should be viewed as an inspiration - she is in my eyes."
Tulisa, 25, was arrested and released on police bail earlier this year, along with musician Mike GLC, on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
