Jay Z and Beyonce are embracing a vegan diet - for the next three weeks.
The couple, who are known for their love of restaurant chain Nandos and chicken, have signed on for a plant-based eating plan, which lasts 22 days, the Holy Grail rapper revealed.
"On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday, I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!" he wrote on his website Life + Times.
"This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a 'plant-based breakfast' everyday. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought."
Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, said the decision to go vegan was a "spiritual" one, based on the couple's lucky number, 4.
"There's something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day. It just feels right!" he continued, adding: " So you can call it a spiritual and physical cleanse. I will post my progress."
The hip-hop star - who was persuaded to sign on for the challenge by Marco Borges, founder of the 22 Days nutrition programme - admitted he doesn't know if this would be a permanent lifestyle change.
"I don't know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We'll see... Best of luck and health!" he wrote, adding: "PS, B is also joining me."
The couple already have the support of vegan Alicia Silverstone, who tweeted a few restaurant suggestions.
"Anything you want, I'd be honoured to help," she added.
