Downton Abbey and Doctor Who have been longlisted alongside soaps EastEnders and Coronation Street for the title of greatest British TV drama of all time.
The list, compiled by the Radio Times, features classics such as Prime Suspect starring Dame Helen Mirren, Inspector Morse, featuring the late John Thaw, and Cracker, starring Robbie Coltrane.
Other shows include time-travelling detective series Life On Mars and Nineties sitcom Our Friends In The North, starring Christopher Eccleston and Daniel Craig.
The original versions of Upstairs Downstairs (1971) and political drama House Of Cards, which was recently remade with Kevin Spacey, are also on the longlist.
Recent shows include ITV crime drama Broadchurch, broadcast this year and starring Olivia Colman and David Tennant, and the BBC's award-winning series Sherlock, alongside old favourites Edge Of Darkness, Brideshead Revisited and The Jewel In The Crown.
Readers have been asked to select a winner from the longlist of 20, which also includes Bleak House, Pride And Prejudice, State Of Play and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
