Mack and Tate married in US remake
Lee Mack and Catherine Tate have signed up to star in a BBC remake of US sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
The Brit reboot will be called The Smiths and set in Cheshire, says BBC News.
Comedy stars Lee and Catherine will play a married couple in the sitcom, based on the long-running CBS programme.
Lee, 44, will feature as a successful sports writer and the couple will live across the road from his controlling parents and older brother.
The script is going to be written by Lee, who writes and stars in another BBC sitcom Not Going Out.
Everybody Loves Raymond ran for nine seasons in the US between 1996 and 2005, starring Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton.
Lee's successful Not Going Out is now in its sixth series on BBC One.
Catherine, 44, recently signed up to star in another BBC sitcom, this time alongside David Walliams in the secondary school set Big School.
The Smiths will film its pilot in front of a live studio audience on May 28.
