Supporters reacted angrily as an opera singer posing as the 'Saracens fat lady' sang during the Men in Black's 35-14 win over London Welsh yesterday.

A few minutes before the final whistle with the game still going on an opera singer dressed in drag opened his vocal chords over the tannoy, depicting a 'fat lady singing' to suggest the match was over.

While the club maintain the gesture is just a 'bit of fun', many supporters see the display as arrogant and disrespectful to the opposition, especially while the game is still in play.

The fat lady's performance received a muted reception when it first appeared against Exeter Chiefs last month and some Sarries supporters, disappointed the gimmick was given a second run, this time booed to express their disapproval.

Other supporters took to Twitter to give their reactions:

@LittleChief69: sorry but your CEO doesnt have a clue about rugby and respect! #rantover.

@bencoles_: Wonder if the Fat Lady will sing in future when Saracens are about to lose a game.

@PandaQuin1973: What an absolute disgrace of a rugby club @Saracens are with that #FatLady stunt. I'd be ashamed if I was a #Sarries fan! #Disrespectful

@elmrugby: The fat lady is singing at Allianz Park. Standby for the complaints from the traditionalists!

@DebGurton: I get it now- "It ain't over til the fatlady sings". Some of us are here to watch the rugby: at least wait til FT

@Rawdogg15: and they think it's funny I suppose? No place for that kind of arrogance in rugby.

@soulsarah28: @Saracens ground looks good but what's with playing music during the game and the opera singer at the end. #bitmuch

@NLFG: Classless RT @Saracens Here comes the @SarriesFatLady

‏@M7ffu: most sarries fans hate this!!! It's the most disrespectful gimmick produced and an embarrassment to rugby.....

‏@MartinBayfield: Think Sarries' new ground is excellent, exciting plans for future. Fat Lady singing was not my favourite part.
