After three months on the top of the tree, high flying Wanderers have finally been knocked off their perch.

Three consecutive draws had trimmed our wings but it was last Saturday's 2-0 reverse at Wrexham that allowed Carlisle to take our place in the league leaders nest.

The top end of the table is now looking extremely congested with the top three teams all on 54 points with Northampton and Orient snapping at their heels.

This is shaping up to be a very close run race for the three automatic promotion places and there will be very little room for error over the next few months.

As well as a lack of points lately, just three out of a possible twelve, our previously very healthy scoring rate has suddenly dried up too.

Only one goal in four games, and that came from the unlikely boot of Ian Stonebridge.

Hopefully the return of Blues' cult hero Super Simon Garner, in a coaching role, will help Messrs Mooney, Bow-ditch and Easter find their goalscoring touch.

If all else fails John Gorman could always send Simon on for a cameo appearance, I certainly wouldn't bet against him scoring. An added benefit of having Simon around again will be the increased sales of beer and ciggies.

Judging by the number of goalscoring opportunities made and squandered by Kevin Betsy and Danny Senda, these two could also do with some finishing practice with Simon.

Every game, they both work themselves into great positions only to blast the ball high and wide.

The recall of Matt Duke to Hull is a bit of a blow and leaves John Gorman with another goalkeeping dilemma. Does he bring back Frank or Willow, or go searching for yet another loan keeper?

I think I'll take my boots and gloves along on Saturday just in case!

The community day, being planned for the home game against Torquay in March, seems an excellent way of attracting more youngsters to support the Wanderers.

It is hoped that all away fans will be allocated alternative seating so that the 2,000 seats in the Dreams away end' stand can be given free of charge to local schools and associations.

The recent AGM went pretty much as expected, including the eventual passing of the resolutions that will enable directors to issue additional shares if prospective investors approach the club.

A show of hands by members present voted against one of the resolutions but a subsequent poll of all shareholders saw this carried by a huge majority.

Steve Hayes rounded off the evening by announcing his long term objectives for the Wanderers.

These aims included being in the Championship in five years and debt free in six years. Sounds easy if you say it quickly!
