ROWING: Great Britain's women quad sculls eased their way into Sunday's final at the World Championships in Japan on Tuesday.
The foursome, which includes Frances Houghton alongside Bucks trio Katherine Grainger, Sarah Winckless and Rebecca Romero, held off the challenge of the Ukraine to reach the final.
They finished first in a time of six minutes, 23.19 seconds to be one of the fastest crews for the final.
The row was all the more impressive because it was the first time the four women had raced competitively together since the Munich Reggata. Romero has been suffering with a back injury and was a doubt for the championships.
